“Mastercard is powering innovation by partnering and collaborating with fintechs,” said Laurence Cooke, chair of the board of Fintechs Canada. “We’re excited to work with Mastercard as they continue to launch products in Canada and enable fintech innovation that’s good for businesses and consumers alike.”

With open banking and payments modernization on the horizon, Canada is preparing itself to usher in a new era of money movement. Laws and systems are being blown up and made anew, setting companies that are eager to support the future of fintech up for success.

“Changing behaviours, preferences and technological advances have contributed to the rapid evolution of Canada’s payments ecosystem and has resulted in a need to evolve the infrastructure to ensure our country remains globally competitive,” said Sohil Tiwari, Senior Vice President, Market Development, Mastercard. “Mastercard’s partnership with Fintechs Canada builds upon our commitment to improve how consumers and businesses pay and get paid, and to further support innovations in paytech.”
