Fintechs Canada launches together with Canada’s most innovative “fintech” companies

Fintechs Canada, a not-for-profit association with membership ranging from market-leading fintechs to fintech friendly financial institutions, is launching to advance a whole-of-government approach to supporting Canada’s emerging fintech ecosystem. The association will do this by working with policymakers, as well as educating the public and raising awareness of the benefits of Canada’s fintech sector.

Formerly operating as Paytechs of Canada, the new organization and its members play a major role in the conversations that will define the future of financial services in Canada, including payments modernization, open banking, the digitalization of money, and the modernization of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing law in Canada, among others.

Fintechs Canada will continue to break down barriers to competition and innovation in this country’s financial services industry, enabling greater choice for Canadians, as well as supporting a thriving fintech sector that progresses at pace with its global peers. But Fintechs Canada will also work with government officials to promote responsible innovation, protecting the integrity, stability and security of Canada’s financial sector.

With new regulation needed, slow progress on innovation policy, and unbalanced representation in Ottawa, a unified voice for fintech in Canada has never been more important.

Fintechs Canada’s board leadership have deep subject matter expertise and represent the vast range of fintech interests, including those in lending, payments, data aggregation, blockchain, banking, and the cooperative sector:

  • Laurence Cooke, CEO and Founder, Nanopay
  • Andrew Graham, CEO and Co-Founder, Borrowell
